“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes a lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.”

Jesse Owens

GOH Run was formed by a small group of enthusiastic individuals who have found a love for running.  Our lives have been impacted in very positive ways through the sport. We hope to spark interest and provide opportunities for our community to share experiences through running.

One of our first goals was to provide a one-mile race across the Hope Memorial Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio, for community and elite runners alike.  This is a unique venue. The Guardian Mile has become an equally unique opportunity for our community to share the road with a group of invited professional athletes from around the world!

Our vision also includes developing youth running programs in our local communities to inspire our youth. We want young runners to gain confidence and fitness, support each other through teamwork, and grow in character through their running and competitive experiences. Meet the GOH Run Team

We run, we coach, we inspire, and we are working very hard to make dreams a reality.

Our group came together to promote running in our communities and to provide opportunities that are fun and exciting.  We are motivated and enthusiastically embracing the challenge to continue to grow our nonprofit and share our vision.

RAE ALEXANDER is GOH Run’s founder and executive director.  She is also the race director of the Guardian Mile. As a retired career educator, she has immersed herself in projects like the Guardian Mile and our growing youth running programs. Since 2019, Rae has also been the head high cross country and distance (track) coach at Olmsted Falls High School. She coached senior Katie Clute (mile) and the girls distance medley and 4 x Mile relays to All-American honors at New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia in 2023.  Rae has over 40 years of coaching experience and has coached over 100 high school boys and girls to All-Ohio honors, including her son, Colby (who ran professionally after competing for Oregon and helped found the Guardian Mile). She also has extensive experience directing youth camps and races, which is invaluable as she directs our growing youth programming opportunities. Rae is a passionate advocate for aortic health and looks forward to watching her grandchildren at this year’s Guardian Mile!

ANDY ALEXANDER, J.D., is a founding GOH Run board member and serves as our legal director. Andy has been involved in the running community for as long as he can remember. He competed for Strongsville High School and Ashland University. He has also volunteered at numerous youth running camps and races over the years. After graduating from the University of Michigan Law School in 2013, Andy returned to Cleveland to begin his law career. Andy is currently a partner at Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP in the firm’s intellectual property practice group. Andy looks forward to watching his two young kids, Rory and Rosie, race over the Hope Memorial Bridge for years to come. Say hi to Andy at packet pickup on race day outside of Irishtown Bend Taproom this year!

KEN SULLIVAN, J.D., is a founding GOH Run Board member and the associate race director for the Guardian Mile. Ken is currently the chair of the Business Department and an assistant cross-country and track coach at St. Edward High School. He has been teaching and coaching at the high school level since 2014 and has been a staff member at Northeast Ohio Cross Country camp since 2010. In 2015-16, he helped coach his younger brother Tom and St. Ignatius High School to state championships in cross country and track. A 4:03 miler, Ken captained the Duke cross country team and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School. He won the Rite Aid Cleveland Half Marathon from 2017-19. His wife, Dr. Allison Schroeder, is also a former competitive runner and sports medicine physician for MetroHealth. She is looking forward to entering the stroller division this summer with their son, Casey!

NATE BRANNEN serves as the primary elite athlete coordinator for the Guardian Mile. Nate was a three-time Olympian (2008, 2012, 2016) in the 1500m for Canada. A sub-4-minute miler in high school, Nate trained under the legendary Ron Warhurst at the University of Michigan, where he was an 11-time NCAA All-American. Nate retired after a 12-year professional running career in 2018 and has been with the Guardian Mile planning team since the beginning. He has been the head cross country and track and field coach at St. Edward High School since 2013, coaching countless individual and team state qualifiers and one individual state champion. Day-to-day, Nate runs Citius Properties LLC, a successful real estate redevelopment business, with his wife, Theresa Brannen (also an All-American at Michigan!). They live in Avon Lake with their two children and an English bulldog, Hank. Nate is excited to watch his team make their season debut at the Guardian Mile!

His passion for running has been passed on to his family, with his wife and three kids all active in the sport. Keith works at Northcoast Research LLC as a Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst.  He is a former Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and worked at Ernst & Young for 10 years as a Senior Manager specializing in tax for financial institutions.  He is currently a member of the Strongsville Athletics Boosters Club, having served as both treasurer and vice president.  You can find Keith operating the finish line video board at this year’s race!

She and her husband, Bill, lead the running club for Muraski Elementary School and enjoy watching their two boys grow in their enjoyment of the sport. Liz is a co-owner, health coach, and medical exercise specialist for Bedford Physical Therapy and Fitness, as well as a corporate health coach for HealthWorks. She is excited to high-five Slider at this year’s finish line!
